Meeting the Bank of England CFO

Afua Kyei on BBC Radio London

Some people light up a studio the moment they walk in.

Afua Kyei, Chief Financial Officer at the Bank of England, does it with grace, intellect and calm authority. She leads the Bank’s Diversity and Inclusion work, is a mum of four and is helping steer the country through one of the toughest financial periods in years.

Six A levels. Multiple degrees. Oxford. Princeton. And somehow still one of the most grounded, authentic people you could ever meet.

We talked about leadership, purpose and what it means to bring your true self to work.

And yes, she’s clearly wondering why I didn’t iron my T shirt. Fair point, Afua. Fair point. 👕😅

You can hear the full conversation on BBC Sounds click here and listen from around 1.42
