I’ve just read an email from my boss, always interesting particularly as we approach contract renewal time. BTW nobody believes that I only get yearly contacts. People ask how do you relax and plan? My answer is that I don’t.
Anyway this email talks about the lionesses and how she wants me to be as enthusiastic as possible with multiple hits. (Do it a lot) I always think that anyone who is truly interested in that sort of thing is watching or listening to it but fair enough.
You’re gonna need to stay with me here.Yesterday I had a northern tattooed sociologist on the show because more youngsters are doing sociology as a subject than ever before and I wondered why. Anyway she talked to me about it being a subject that looks beneath the obvious and asks why. She told me it is a subject of critical thinking. We argued (that’s why I like her) about whether that was common sense and if a social commentator like Andrew Tate could be regarded as a sociologist. You can imagine how that went.Now linking our two stories. I can’t help but notice the make up of the England woman’s football team. Not withstanding Lauren James who decided to step on the Nigerian player like she wouldn’t teach her how to make Jollof rice, they all look the same.How many blonde ponytailed women can you get in one team?How representative is that team of England?If the team is chosen on ability then why aren’t a wider variety of young women being drawn to football? I will be cheering for them, not just because Jamaica, Brazil, Columbia and Nigeria are out but because I pass the Tebbit test 😂And because my contract is up for renewal, I want to make it clear to my boss that I think she is always right just like the boss lady in the small house. In fact it is amazing that they know so much.😶 I am only asking these questions because DR Lisa McKenzie (sociologist) told me to ask questions.
Just imagine how good the team would be if it got to select from the widest possible range of people.Look how well it worked in American tennis with the Williams sisters. Right, we are pulling in to Oxford street.
