Lovers Rock is a subgenre of reggae that originated in the UK in the 1970s and gained popularity in the 1980s. It is characterized by its romantic lyrics\, soulful melodies\, and smooth reggae rhythms. \nThe Concert series which debuted in 2010 has featured over 150 artistes including some of the biggest names in the genre including\, Janet Kay MBE\, Carroll Thompson & Dennis Bovell. Each artiste performing has had a successful solo career in their own right\, but together all on one night on one stage they are a force to be reckoned with. \nJanet Kay is a singer who is best known for her hit single “Silly Games\,” which became a chart-topping success in the UK in 1979.
